a) Data processing when visiting the website

Retention period:
Log files are stored only for as long as necessary for the purposes described above and then deleted.

b) Data processing in the context of event registration and participation

Purpose of processing:
Abbott processes personal data to manage event registration, participant administration, event logistics and event communication.

Depending on the registration form, this may include in particular:

  • first and last name
  • contact details (e.g., email address, phone number)
  • company and job title
  • participation details
  • any additional information voluntarily provided

Legal basis:
The legal basis for the processing is determined by Abbott in accordance with Art. 6 GDPR, in particular:

  • Art. 6(1)(b) GDPR (performance of a contract) and/or
  • Art. 6(1)(a) GDPR (consent), where applicable.

Recipients of data:
Your data may be shared with:

  • Abbott and its affiliated companies
  • add on communication as event agency (processor)
  • technical and event service providers acting on behalf of Abbott

All processors are contractually bound in accordance with Art. 28 GDPR.

Retention period:
Personal data will be stored only as long as necessary for the organization and follow-up of the event and in accordance with Abbott’s legal retention obligations.

Provision of data:
Providing the required data is necessary to register for and participate in the event. Failure to provide mandatory information may result in inability to participate.

Automated decision-making:
No automated decision-making takes place.

3. Data Transfers

To provide the event services, Abbott engages carefully selected service providers, including add on communication. These providers process personal data strictly on behalf of Abbott and are contractually obliged to comply with applicable data protection requirements.

Where data is transferred to countries outside the EU/EEA, Abbott ensures that appropriate safeguards are in place, such as an adequacy decision of the European Commission or EU Standard Contractual Clauses.
